Joopy Gems February 2024 newsletter header

It's been a long time since I've sent a newsletter out. Partly it's because this has been such a difficult business year and I reckon the last thing people need is more temptation and partly because it's been a while since I've had a restock worth mentioning. However, I am very excited to report that I have a big restock of London Blue Topaz! I have cabochons up to 6mm and rose cuts 4-8mm, and at an amazing price, universally lower than I had previously, which is very surprising in these inflationary times. I also have some restocks of white topaz in 6mm and 8mm rose cuts. Particularly appropriate given that the birthstone for November is topaz!

Next month look out for ruby, sapphire and emerald cabochons, 3mm and 4mm in nice quality.

London Blue Topaz

A fantastic big restock of this most sublime stone. I've been very low on stock for a long time, in line with existing shortages of good quality, well-priced material. I have 3mm, 5mm, 6mm cabochons and 4mm, 5mm, 6mm and 8mm rose cuts. Proper nice lotus cuts, and prices are AMAZING. across the board; lower than my previous stock, now isn't that a surprise?!  Prices start from £1.20 for a 3mm stone.

Kika Alvarenga Tourmaline Earrings

I should be featuring a piece of topaz jewellery, but I just could not resist posting these utterly stunning earrings Kika Alvarenga tourmaline earrings. November means topaz, so this newsletter is great news for all November babies! Here's the GIA info on topaz - and citrine, the other November birthstone. GIA has a really interesting article this month about jewellery design and AI, as well as an article exploring the use of machine learning in gem identification. How do you feel about lab grown diamonds? Making luxury accessible or destroying the natural diamond market? I was amused to see that Retail Jeweller has 2 articles; one detailing Signet's collaboration with DeBeers celebrating natural diamonds, and the other reporting Signet's introduction of lab-grown into Ernst and Jones and H Samuel! And just to put you in the mood, here's a round up of natural and lab-grown options from Jewellery Editor.
